Are dropdown options available

For the options of items, are drop down menus available?

The options are only available for customers to select / enter if product in the shopping cart mode or the quote cart mode.

So in that case, customer must select / enter before being able to add product to the cart / quote.

Ok, If I leave the option type on select, I get the desired effect on the options but when I "add to Cart, I don't see the options listed. Also, I tried to add a text area for customer notes, I see the box but cannot type anything in on the frontend

The problem caused by CSS from the template that you are using and this is already resolved via ticket system.
