Menu for category navigation like demo site

Hi, as far as I can tell, the menu that appears in the demo site eshop.joomdonation.org/ is not included in the standard package. I am building my own template for the project but wish to have the menu work exactly like this. Do I need to purchase an add-on?

Viewing the eshop.joomdonation.org/ demo site I got the impression that everything there is in the standard package.

EShop is only a Joomla component. The package only includes the EShop component. In the demo, we build a site with a template to show demo of EShop component. We can not include the menu into the package.

To have that menu, you just need to go to the back-end of your site to create menu items to link to EShop. You can read the documentation about that here: eshopdocs.joomservices.com/getting-start...g-the-front-end.html

So, I should create Joomla menu items referring to Eshop categories, and then use the menu system of my choice to display them?
This is ok with me, but it was not directly understood from the Demo Site or the component description.

That is no problem. And yes, that is exactly things that you should do. The menu system on different site is different.
You can not use menu system on our demo site for your site. Because categories data on your site is different. And the menu system is from Joomla, not from my component.
