Subscriptions (frm Paypal) stuck on Pending was created by David Boggitt
Hi there,

I operate a website for a small charity and they have a few people who subscribe to their membership.

I've used MembershipPro to implement this, but the most recent six subscriptions (all PayPal) are on 'Pending'.

Do you know what could be happening here please?

Many thanks,

David.

Hi David

Might be something with the PayPal account. Please :

1. Edit the os_paypal payment plugin, set Log IPN Message parameter to Yes

2. Try to subscribe again, make payment.

If it still doesn't work, submit a support ticket sending us super admin account of your site so that we can check the logs and guide you to check it further

Hi there,

Many thanks for replying. I have set up a test subscription and have subscribed myself.

  1. The subscription has been paid from my PayPal account
  2. I did not receive an email about the subscription
  3. The site admin did receive an email about the subscription

I have now further updated the email settings in the Configuration page and have also set Log IPN Message parameter to Yes.

David.

EDIT
I've checked the logs and it says no emails have been sent regarding my test subscription. How do I send you a SuperUser login please? My test subscription is still at Pending. Thanks :)

I'm not actually sure what the expected behaviour is (i.e. at what point does the subscription change from Pending to Active).

Does an Admin have to change this, or should it happen automatically? Tuan is currently investigating and I'll report back here (or he will!).

Dave.

I receive a message from paypal that someone made a payment, then I check the subscriptions and see a new one with paypal payment but still on pending, manually I change it to active. this should happen automatically.

Thanks! I'm sure it used to do this automatically, perhaps the communication between PayPal and the extension isn't working as it once did.

Surely it should happen automatically, in case it not, there are some reasons can cause the issue:

1. PayPal IPN is disabled in the PayPal account for some reasons

2. os_paypal payment plugin has Access to Registered instead of Public (in case you are using Membership Pro older than 2.11.0)

3. There is something blocks IPN message:

- The site is offline
- The site is not public accessible (ie, on localhost)
- There is security plugins like Admin Tools Pro, RS Firewall... (or server firewall software) blocks the IPN messages

So if anyone is having the issue , better submit ticket so that we can check it directly on the site to find the reason and get it sorted

This is working now - the client hadn't set up the PayPal IPN correctly on the PayPal website.
