Hi :)

A client has asked if they need an SSL when using the payment form with the inbuilt eWay payment plugin? Are payments processed on the clients website (where we would need an SSL), or are form users redirected to the eway site for payment and we will not need an SSL on the clients website?

Thanks,
Aaron

Hello Aaron

With Eway payment plugin, customers will enter credit card information directly on the site for processing payment, so the site needs to have an SSL certificate installed so that credit card information will be encrypted before transfering over internet

Without SSL certificate, the credit card will be transfered over internet as plain text and it would be dangerous

Hope my answer is clear to you

Regards,

Tuan

Hello

If you use PayPal (standard payment plugin come with the extensions by default), customers will be redirected to PayPal for processing payment, so SSL certificate is not needed.

Tuan
