Edocman notifications when documents are added

Edocman notifications when documents are added was created by David Unwin
I see in the Edocman documentation it is possible to notify user groups of new or changed documents.
Is it possible for registered users to sign up for notifications to new/changed documents, so they get an email when a particular document is changed ?
