Scenario is to be used for an intranet document management tool
Can you restrict access to specific folders or documents and make them available only for specific users? even if they belong to the same user group (authors) e.g. financial documents cannot be accessed by anyone except the ones in the financial department. Is this possible? Is there a way to implement this type of feature?

Edocman has feature to assign documents to specific users. By this way, only assigned users can see the documents at front-end. I hope this feature fits your requirement.
