Blocking spam registrations was created by David
Hi there,

My sites are starting to receive quite a lot of spam registrations. I am not sure where these bots are registering, as I think the only place you can register is via eshop. However maybe there is a hidden registration page somewhere on my domain I am not aware of.

My question is, for the option "Allow User Registration" in the Joomla user settings, can I set this to "No" without it affecting registrations on eshop? This might stop spam registrations if they are somehow registering on a Joomla registration page on an old indexed page.

I just tried on a test site, and it seems you can still register as a new customer on eshop even when the Joomla "Allow User Registration" is set to "NO". Can you confirm this is correct?

Thanks in advance
BR

Hello David,

If you want to stop registration from EShop, simply go to EShop -> System -> Configuration -> Option tab, At Checkout Type choose Only Guest.

Sincerely, Giang

Giang many thanks for reply.
Actually my question was if the Joomla registration has anything to do with eshop registration? It seems these 2 registration systems are seperate right?

OK great I think I understand. I think I can "disable" Joomla registrations which will stop this spam I am receiving. It is coming via the Joomla registration, not via eshop registration!
