Moving a registrant from the Waiting List

Is is possible to move a registrant from the Waiting List to the Registrant list for the event?

It is not possible for doing that at the moment. In this case, you will need to go to Events Booking -> Registrants, create new registrant manually.

I will consider adding support for moving users from waiting list into registrants easily in the next release which I am working on at the moment.

I need the ability to easily move waiting list registrants through the payment process also. I have events for which we need to confirm credentials before admitting. The process I'm using is: set up event free with a capacity of 1, add a dummy registrant, which then forces all subsequent registrants to go into the waiting list. If there is a better way to screen registrants before accepting payment please let me know.
