Insert custom button into registration form

I want to insert a button into the registration form so that when the user clicks on that button additional fields display. I know I can do this by using a field such as a 'check box' or 'radio button', but that isn't as good.

Is it possible to create a 'Button' field type, or is there some other way to achieve this?

Unfortunately, there is no way to do that in the extension at the moment. So you will have to use checkbox or radio button as you mentioned.

Otherwise, there will be many code modifications to have this feature
