Setting up a simple weekly class

I thought this would be a very simple thing to do. Guess not. All I want is this:
A weekly class, say Friday's 5pm to 6pm, from October 1st to June 1st. The class appears on the events calendar every week. Registrants only have to register once.
Is there no way to do this?
