Copies of every image file?

Hi,
After nearly two years of using EB (and very happy with it!) it's time to start cleaning up the website. Mainly removing images that are no longer needed.
I am now finding out that every image that is uploaded for an event seems to be stored in three places:
... images/com_eventbooking
... media/com_eventbooking/images
... media/com-eventbooking/images/thumbs (these are very small, so they are not a problem).

I never knew that EB made an extra copy of every image that is uploaded. Is this necessary? There is a thumbs folder in ...images/com_eventbooking as well, but that folder is empty.

There are also images in ...media/com_eventbooking that I cannot find in ...images/event_booking. So where did they come from? Or perhaps the better question is: how did we do that?

The images is copied to media/com_eventbooking is for backward compatible purpose only. It's because in the past, images was uploaded to that folder, so the old layout might use images from that folder (which could be overriden)

In recent versions (which was from sometime ago), we use Joomla media manager to upload/select image for event, so image is now from images/com_eventbooking folder. If you are using most recent versions of the extension, you can clean up image from media/com_eventbooking/images folder. It should not be needed anymore

But... before I go and delete the whole folder, please look at the attached screenshot (from brummencultuur.nl/agenda ).
In the newest event, the image still seems to be in ...media/com_eventbooking/images ?

The thumb image is still in media/com_eventbooking/images/thumb folder. However, the main / large image should be from images/com_eventbooking folder if it exists

Images from media/com_eventbooking/images is only used if there is no image from images/com_eventbooking folder (as mentioned, it's for backward compatible purpose)

So to be safe, please try to rename some images file in media/com_eventbooking/images folder. If it's working OK, you can remove all the images from there (but keep thumbs folder, please)
