Update to old version Fails with SQL error

I was trying to install the latest version of events booking on top of an very old version that I installed but ended up not using. The installation received an error:
Warning
JInstaller: :Install: Error SQL Unknown column 'show_on_public_registrants_list' in 'field list'
Extension Install: SQL error processing query: DB function failed with error number 1054
Unknown column 'show_on_public_registrants_list' in 'field list'

It looks that there's a mismatch between the old database and the new one. How should I get this to work?
