Some of our members want to automatically have their membership renewed (reoccuring in PayPal) and others want to go on-line each year and renew. Allowing a member to select which method they want to use would be a good solution.
Seeing as that is not possible. When we setup the plans we only allowed yearly sign up. We'd like to start using reoccurring payments (auto renewal).
It appears we have to setup a separate plan to specifically allow auto renewal (by duplicating the setting of the yearly renewal plan) so users can select that plan instead?
When the the date is close for "expiration" they get a notice that it is expiring, but no mention of the auto renewal. So they go on-line to try and renew (like they used to do when they get this:
Membership Status
Your subscription for plan Auto Renew Membership will be expired on 11-28-2015 (22 days left)
Renew Membership
There are no renew option available for your membership
Shouldn't it say:
Membership Status
Your subscription for plan Auto Renew Membership will be renewed on 11-28-2015 (22 days left)
Renew Membership
Nothing to do, as long as your [paypal or authnet] payment methods (credit card or bank info) are up-to-date.
Finally, as a courtesy, when the date is close for auto renewal, we'd like to send those who select the reoccuring plan a reminder that they will be charged for the renewal on a specific date. Currently there does not appear to be a way to create a "your plan will be renewed in x days using the Paypal (or Authnet) info you have provided."
Is there documentation or a tutorial on how to do this right? Did I miss something?
Given that these are separate plans (with the same features, how do I (or how does a member switch from a yearly on-line setup to an auto renewal plan? Using these separate plan method does not seem to work well.

BTW - With the template we are using the "process renewal" button text is not vertically centered.
