Problem with expiration management was created by Sally Stone
Hi. Expiration management has a fault on our site. It doesn't work correctly. At the end of 'Live time in days' an email is sent to the agent to notify him that his property will expire. The email contains a link he can click to renew the property. The link doesn't work. The agent has no way to renew his own properties...

So, we turned off Expiration management to stop properties expiring. Agents no longer got notification emails. But their properties continued to get expire and then get deleted from the system! But it happened silently, without any notifications!

Now we have turn Expiration management back on but several properties have become unpublished in the last week.

There is no easy way to track what the system is doing with these properties. There is no reporting tool for the whole expiration system, and no indication of when properties will expire nor what the system will do with them when that happens.

Do you have comments and solutions?

And,
It seems you are using old version of OS Property, because in new version, when you turn off the option Expiration management, the cron job function in OS Property is no longer working. And the properties won't be expired. I'll wait for your site information to check it.

OK, I will send you the site info.

Yes, we have a version 2.0.3.2 (I think). We can't upgrade it because it was customised to fit it with our site and we can't afford to lose the customisations.

Hi Dam

When you fixed this bug (see joomdonation.com/tickets/view/12602.html ) did you actually change the code in the Expiration routine, or just stop the CRON from running?

We have a database backup routine that has not run since you made the changes. It usually runs once per day and emails us a dump of the database. It hasn't run since you changed things to solve the expiration problem.

Please give me some information on this. We need our DB backup routine to run. It's the only daily security backup we have for our data.

Hi,
I modified the plugin
plugins > system > ospropertyplg
So you can backup database normally without any problem.

Hi Dam

Thanks for the information. For some reason the plugin 'LazyDbBackup' stopped running automatically at the same time. It has not made an automatic backup since then. Do you have any idea why that might be?
