Any basic examples for Fee Calculation Script??

Hi! I'm trying to create a form that will minus the form amount by a specific number if a custom text field is a certain value (essentially a promo field).

I believe this can be achieved via a Fee Calculation Script, but I don't know where to begin. Any pointers?
