eshop or virtuemart? was created by Dennis Skaltsis
Hi I have aquestion with two legs:

1. I'm planning to setup a new e-shop site with the folowing combination:
joomla, vituemart, csvAdvanced and your Market Theme.
Is this combination supported? Any known issues?

2. What will be the advantage-es if I use your eSHOP plug-in instead of the above combination? The "main features" that you list at your site, are all included or need to be payed on activation?
Thank you, Dennis

Hi Dennis,

EShop is a great Shopping Cart Extension. So let's use EShop, forget about Virtuemart. You should use EShop, EShop CSV Advanced and EShop Market Theme to build your site. All of them can work together: EShop is main shopping cart extension, EShop CSV Advanced is for importing data from CSV file into EShop and EShop Makret is the template.

So let's forget Virtuemart and start to build your site with EShop.
If you have any more questions, don't hesitate to let me know.
Sincerely, Giang

Thank you for your reply,
There is an issue though:
The Virtuemart request is comming from client, and using joomdonation tools was my suggestion.
I need to know if the suggested combination will work.
On top of that please give me tools to convice my client to use your eshop add-on instead of virtuemart.
I dont beleive that "forget virtuemart" will work as a tool.
Thank you, Dennis

Hi Dennis,
If your client want to use Virtuemart, then you can only use our CSV Advanced to import data into Virtuemart.
The EShop Market Template is used for our EShop, not for Virtuemart.
If you want to use EShop Market Template and EShop, you should convince your client to use EShop instead of Virtuemart. Virtuemart is too old and it is not for Joomla 3.x, only 2.5.
Sincerely, Giang

Hi Giang
Thank you for your replay.
A had a tour in eshop demo winch I consider a complete product compared to virtuemat.
Here are a he concerns though:
1. Is Greek language fully supported? Front-end, Product Description, Back-end maybe?
2. Here is Greece we have a price compare site skroutz.gr. An e-shop wants to be listed needs an interface. The i/f is ready for virtuemart. Do you have it too? If not will it be possible to build it?
3. Will it be possible to build payment interfaces thrugh Greek Banks? Alpha Bank, Eurobank, Winbank?
Thank you in advance, Dennis

Hello Dennis,
Sorry for a bit delay in reply to you on the new questions:

1. Yes, EShop support multiple languages for both of back-end and front-end, it supports you to translate data into multiple lanugages, and it supports Greek language.

2. EShopp supports standard views to allow you to display categories, products as the way you want.

3. Regarding the payments, currently, EShop does not have payment plugins for Green Banks.

Sincerely, Giang

I have no experience whatsoever with eshop, but I have tested VirtueMart and JShopping.

I would dissuade anybody from using VirtueMart anytime. We have had tremendous problems with it, losing money when expected and claimed features didn't work. In addition it's got quite a high threshold for setting up and using.

Hi Stella,
I can not give you any advices with other extensions as Virtuemart and JShopping. If you are not happy with that extensions, let's move to use EShop and I am sure that you will be happy.
If you have any questions regarding EShop, don't hesitate to let me know.
Sincerely, Giang

At the moment we are using other means than e-shop solutions for our needs, but thank you.
My post was merely in support of Dennis Skaltsis who needed some info for dissuading his customer to press for VirtueMart.
