Unfortunately, it's not possible. If you want to hide the event completely, you can only handles it via Joomla access level:
1. The users who you want to give access and register for the event must have an account on your site and assigned to a special user group (not standard Registered group) like Private Events
2. You create a new access level, called Private Events for example, choose the user group above for that access level
3. Set Access and Registration Access settings of the event to Private events
By doing that, only users belong to Private Events user group can see and register for the event. In this case, no need for using event password, too
