This is still an issue for me.
It seems that Permanent 301 redirects are best practice for expired, unpublished events (Purely based on moz.com/blog/how-should-you-handle-expired-content , but it makes sense to me)
I would like a new parameter added to categories and/or Events: 301 Redirect When Unpublished If done at category level, it should apply to sub-categories too. If done at event level, it would need to be exported for batch processing of events.
For my club categories, I would want to redirect to the article /clubs (or whatever each EB user chooses)
For my camp categories, I would want to redirect to the article /camps (or whatever each EB user chooses)
All in all, I think this would give the best user experience, and also satisfy SEO quite well.
Is this possible, Tuan?

I'm also interested in a way to handle this; have you given this any more thought Tuan?
